Warrior Personas

There are key characteristics that make up a Warrior. But not all warriors have the same combination of characteristics.

All warriors have these characteristics in common…

Focus
They are all focused on something whether it be far away or near; visible or invisible.

Intention
They are not only observing, but they have intention towards that which they observe.

Persistence
Continuous action to achieve goal in spite of obstacles. This applies to both the immediate present and long-term.

Action
Their total function is about what they do.

Some Warrior actions most people wouldn’t recognise as such…

Warrior actions might include:

  • “actively” waiting patiently;

  • sitting meditating before battle;

  • healing their wounds;

  • University student completing a Degree over three years;

  • a woman giving birth to a baby;

  • a farmer planting crops and nurturing them and then harvesting them;

  • a monk confronting the spiritual adversity within themselves on the path to finding their Spirituality.

Then there are the more familiar Warriors that we associate with Action…

  • Soldiers

  • Samurai

  • Athletes competing

  • Our sports “heroes”

  • Police

  • Paramedics

  • Firefighters

And then there are there warriors that we usually don’t recognise in ourselves…

  • Driving a car fast on a country road, anticipating the bands on the crests to the point of intuiting what is ahead, feeling at one with the vehicle on the road.

  • The Nurturer-Protector: The one that automatically, without thinking, grabs a child who is running into a road full of traffic.

  • The one that steps in to confront and stop the bully.

  • The Psychotherapist who persists on the journey of exploration of their client’s struggle to find peace or resolution or themselves.

In every realm of life, warriors can be recognised — not by the armour they wear, but by the courage, intention, and persistence they bring to their actions. Whether on the battlefield, in the classroom, or within the quiet battles of the soul, the warrior persona may arise.
